Yardwork redux (or tilling the hardpan)

Nothing like a day of yardwork to stir the blood and build muscle.

The petmystones spent the day in the yard. Your editor tilling the hardpan in preparation for a full yard makeover. Tilling also included some spot work for reseeding projects that needed to be done this season. We also reset the mailbox, correcting a slight tilt that had developed in the last year.

More finishing work to take place this week as the better half of petmystone.com works on the details of the garden.

Deck steps

We have some new steps off the back deck.

The quality is as good as our builder gave us, with better lumber. Hey, it’s your editor’s first set of steps. Lessons were learned, and given the deck itself has settled a bit, the steps are otherwise pretty good.

The new steps really open the deck up, complementing the steps off the main porch (off-camera). Shannon has some fantastic gardening plans for the whole backyard to take advantage of the new steps. A new porch/patio table and chair set will also take advantage of the new plans.

Upgrade

Behind the scenes petmystone.com has some new software.

One item is a security measure to curb a spike in “blog spam,” a new form of unsolicited commercial nonsense.

To post comments, you need only to enter the “random security code” provided on the comment page. Comments remain moderated, so even if some of the crap gets through, there’s still me. :-)
